We bought and replaced 3 filters and a membrane October 2022. That’s when our Zero filter machine stopped filtering properly. The output was not more than 15-20%. We just replaced 2 filters, and nothing worked. As soon as we replaced the membrane, the filter is back to normal! The support staff should be trained to listen to the customer. We tried everything we were told by them, but the fact that the filter stopped working after the filters and membrane were replaced should have been the ‘aha’ moment. Essentially the filtering was hindered by a faulty membrane. I was ready to toss everything away. I’m glad I didn’t and went with my gut feeling to replace all filters.

replacement filers and RO membrane

No problem replacing all the filters and RO membrane… note… before you can remove Alcapure Post Filter and RO membrane you must cut off the plastic ties…. Guess ties are used to keep filters in place during shipping.

We are happy to hear your filter change went well. Thank you for your helpful advice.

Reverse Osmosis Cartridge for Counter Top (ZIP) Water Filtration Model

The cartridge was not easy to install. Seemed like a tight fit and awkward to remove/attach connector tubing, especially remove. It was almost impossible to simultaneously hold down "clip" and release tubing from old connector, very frustrating. Seems like there should be an easier way to access RO cartridge, very tight space to work in, when removing and replacing cartridge. The directions in product booklet were helpful, especially the diagrams. I don't like wasting all that "residue" water either. I know you can use it to wash veggies, water plants, etc. but not all of us have plants. Isn't there a way to filter the water w/o the waste? I love the taste of the water but probably would look for another brand that doesn't waste water. This is why I'd only recommend to someone who would use the waste water.

Tough to install

Installing is difficult especially with removing the connectors. After I assembled and did a test, water was leaking out of the connector on the top, so i pulled everything back out and re-set the connector and did another test and water again was leaking all out. The connector is broken. I did call RKIN and their customer support is outstanding as they sent me a new connector free of charge. Just waiting for that to arrive in the mail so I can swap out the connector and hopefully everything works and no leaks. Two of the replacement filters un-screw and really wish they all did, dealing with the connectors is difficult and my confidence level has diminished with them producing leaks in the future. Hopefully the other connectors hold up but this one breaking is concerning. I had the RKIN for 2 years now so replacing all the filters in it - it does waste a lot of water, but, it seems to do pretty good at filtering down 400ppm from tap to 22ppm after it is done, so considerable about of junk that is removed. I have the filters that put back calcium and magnesium back into the water so probably why it is 22 ppm vs 0ppm.
